Cloud Computing: the legal answer to digital entertainment distribution

onlive

So those of you who have heard about cloud computing might know that it has a huge potential but has been pretty much restricted by modern broadband technology.

Now a company called Onlive claims that they have achieved the ultimate holy grail of interactive video streaming that can supposedly make any old PC, Mac or even a TV into a high-end gaming machine.

To many these claims may be hard to believe but if Onlive is capable in delivering what they promise this could very well be the biggest thing for video games in terms of connectivity and user friendliness. Not even considering the potential to the rest of the entertainment industry.

This service (if it works) would basically establish zero latency interactive TV over the internet. People would be able to interact with multiple forms of streaming video, no matter if it is a HD movie or an interactive advertisement alike. The possibilities seem to be endless.

Oh yeah, it will also help eliminate piracy. Since the media is never physically (or even digitally) transferred to the end user, piracy is sort of preemptively prevented by just keeping the games only on the servers doing the cloud computing.

A new era for online media distribution or a big FAIL! in the wake of false promises? I guess we will see when they launch.

E.T. found in upper atmosphere, again.

panA story about new species of bacteria first caught my attention on CNN and it got me really interested but was just too short in itself. So I googled the topic and found another article about it.

This Yahoo India article describes the experiment in better detail and pretty much satisfied my thirst for info… Until I saw towards the end that this was actually the second time that the experiment had been conducted. And wait a minute, it was first done in 2001 also with positive results?!

Yea, so then I found this article from July 01 and it went even further and declared that Panspermia was now almost proven since these bacteria clearly came from space and inhabited earth.

Cool, so apparently eight years ago they found out about E.T. bacteria that just might be the cause of all the living things on earth and now you just kind of wanted to remind us again. Nice and thanks for making a big deal out of it 🙂

My suggestion: Invest in Marketing.

Should Obama get angry? Jon Stewart sure does!

SNL and The Daily Show both feel that peoples expectations for Obama are becoming more or less absurd in terms of managing the financial crisis.

The Rock Obama is the incredible Hulk alter-ego of Barack, after being harassed by the Republicans about the crisis. Yet another hit from the latest SNL cast.

Jon Stewart is also getting pissed off about the way the new administration is being judged according to the DOW industrial average. Funny that the internet generation actually needs news updates so often that the daily stock market has become the indicator for how well the President is doing. Hell, I would sure hate if my job performance was directly related to anything like that.

Well as we wait for the slump to turn the Dow INDU seems to be up by over 200 points, making it yet again just a bit over 7000. Looks like it was a good day for Obama and hope that tomorrow we go up some more.

The Recession Wars

nkorea

Currently Kim Jong Ill is growing old and wine and hookers are becoming a full time thing, but who will take over the country? According to CNN it’s his youngest kid who was picked purely ’cause the other ones sucked.

On top of this North Korea is launching a “satellite” that others think is really a long range missile. Plus North Korea said that they will wage war on anyone who dares to shoot it down. So at least they seem to be serious.

But why? Just over satellite TV and GPS? No, that wouldn’t make sense. They can use the existing ones just fine and even download anything online if they want.

So I dunno what is up, and also Iran is working on missiles so that should add to the fear factor for a couple weeks. So if you got a job, keep doing a really good job just in case. Others will just tighten their belts and watch TV.

Microsoft’s “Future Tech” Video

This is a concept video of an alternative future of what Microsoft has been planning. Reality will more likely just involve less of everything useful and with even more problems, but a nice idea still.Reminds me of something that Nokia has been showing concept pictures about for years now.

Vodpod videos no longer available.
